What's new
Intake is a new module in the left rail. It is the front door for work arriving at a legal team, and everything that arrives lands on one register.
- Three ways in. Upload a document, bring one across from a connected account, or point Intake at a mailbox your firm already owns. Irys confirms you own that mailbox with a one-time code and connects to it, so you keep the address your counterparties already write to.
- A system can post to you. A counterparty's system can send work in directly. You issue a key for the process that should receive it, and each post arrives as an item with its attachments.
- One email, one row. Every arrival becomes an item on the register with what it is, what Irys pulled out of it, where each fact came from, and who is on it.
- It says which it is. An item Irys could place on its own is labelled that way, and one it could not is sent for a look. You get the two words, never a score to interpret. Both kinds are still yours to read before you act on them.
- Six statuses, your words. Five steps plus one for noise. You can rename them to match how your team talks. Needs review is the one queue a person has to clear.
- Five ways out. An item can become a matter, go to Workbench, go to a person, be answered where it sits, or be referred to outside counsel. Every hand-off says where it went and links to it.
- Reviews. Ask one question across a set of documents at once and get a table back, each answer linked to the passage it was drawn from so you can open it and read it in place.
Why this matters
Requests reach a legal team through whoever someone happened to email, so the work of finding out what arrived is done by hand, twice, by different people. Intake does the reading on arrival, so the first time anyone looks at a request the facts are already pulled out and attributed. Nothing becomes a matter by itself, so what you are looking at is a queue rather than a decision already taken. Irys reads and routes, and what it pulled out is attributed back to the source so you can check it. The legal judgement stays yours.
Intake owns arrival and triage, up to the point where work becomes a matter. It is not a contract lifecycle tool and is not built to replace one.
How to use it
- Open Intake in the left rail to see the register
- Go to your intake process settings to connect a mailbox, a shared drive folder, or issue a key for a system that will post to you
- Filter to Needs review to see only what a person still has to clear
- Open any item to see the facts Irys pulled out, click any one of them to jump to where it came from in the source
The mailbox you connect must already have two-factor turned on. Desktop widths only for now.
