CoCounsel is Thomson Reuters' legal AI product, sold alongside Westlaw and Practical Law. Checked Oct 2026 against its own pages; details may have changed since.
1. What CoCounsel publishes about pricing
The CoCounsel product page carries no dollar price. Its calls to action are to request a free demo, call the sales line, or view plans. The plans page lists four options by name: CoCounsel Legal, CoCounsel Essentials, Practical Law Dynamic Tool Set with CoCounsel Essentials, and Westlaw Advantage with CoCounsel Essentials. It groups buyers by firm size: one to three attorneys, four to ten, and over ten.
Plan names and firm-size groups are not prices. The pages checked do not say what any plan costs.
2. How CoCounsel is sold
CoCounsel is sold through a contact-led process. The product page says a sales representative will reply within one business day to a call or an email. An earlier review of the same materials also found a quote step for firms of up to ten attorneys, with larger firms handled through sales.
Some bundles depend on other subscriptions. Grounding in Westlaw or Practical Law content requires the matching subscription. If your firm already holds one, ask what the bundle adds to it. If it does not, ask what the combined cost is.
CoCounsel Essentials has a request-a-trial option. The trial is requested, and a person approves it. No trial length appears on the page.
3. Figures that circulate, and why to weigh them carefully
Search “CoCounsel pricing” and several sites state a per-seat or per-month figure. This guide does not repeat them. None came from a CoCounsel page checked here, they differ between sources, and most do not say when the number was collected or for which plan. A number without a named, dated source is an estimate, not a price.
Plans are grouped by firm size and some depend on other subscriptions, so one “CoCounsel price” may not exist. Ask for the price of the specific plan your firm would buy.
4. How to get a real number for your firm
Ask these questions in writing before you commit:
- Which plan fits my firm size, and what is the exact price per attorney per month on that plan?
- Does the plan I need depend on a Westlaw or Practical Law subscription I do not already hold, and what does that add?
- Is the price monthly or annual, and what is the contract length and renewal increase?
- What counts as a user? Do paralegals and admin staff need a seat?
- Is there a usage limit, a document cap, or a fair-use policy, and what happens at the limit?
- What does onboarding cost, and is training included?
- Can the firm run a real matter through the product before signing?
Ask the same questions of every vendor so the answers compare. Our guide to evaluating legal AI has the full checklist, and the legal AI pricing guide sets out the pricing models and lists vendors side by side. For a feature comparison, see Irys vs CoCounsel.

Frequently asked questions
How much does CoCounsel cost per month?
No monthly price appears on the CoCounsel pages checked for this guide. The plans page lists plan names and firm-size groups, and the price comes from a quote or a sales conversation.
Does CoCounsel have a free trial?
The pages checked show a request-a-trial option for CoCounsel Essentials. The trial is requested, not instant, and no length is stated on the page. Availability may differ by country.
Is CoCounsel included with Westlaw?
CoCounsel Essentials is sold in a Westlaw bundle and in a Practical Law bundle. Grounding in Westlaw or Practical Law content depends on holding the matching subscriptions. Ask what your current subscription already covers before you price a bundle.
What do third-party sites say CoCounsel costs?
Several comparison sites publish per-seat figures. None came from a CoCounsel page checked for this guide, and the figures differ between sources. Treat any number without a dated source from the vendor as unconfirmed, and ask for a written quote.
How do I get CoCounsel pricing?
Open the plans page for your firm size, request a demo, or call the sales number on the product page. Bring your attorney count and the questions in the checklist above.
Is CoCounsel more expensive than other legal AI platforms?
There is no public basis to answer that with a number. CoCounsel, Harvey and Legora do not show a standard price, while some other platforms do. Request a quote from each vendor for your own firm size and compare in writing.
Who publishes this guide?
Irys (formerly Iqidis), a legal AI platform with published pricing: $299 per month for Irys One and $329 per seat per month for Irys Teams, with a 7-day free trial. Irys competes with CoCounsel. This guide keeps its claims to what CoCounsel publishes on its own pages.
Transparency contrast
Irys publishes its pricing on the Irys pricing page. Irys One is $299 per month for one attorney, and Irys Teams is $329 per seat per month for teams of two to twenty-five, with no per-token or per-query overage on the advertised Irys One plan. A seven-day trial requires no credit card. Published pricing is not always the better fit, since a large deployment may need a scoped quote, but you can check cost before you speak to anyone.
This guide is based on publicly available information checked Oct 2026. “Not shown” means no price or term appeared on the vendor's pages that we checked; actual pricing, features and contract terms may differ. Confirm current details with the vendor before you buy. Irys (formerly Iqidis) publishes this guide and competes with CoCounsel.
