How does AI redlining work in the Drafting Assistant?
The rule is simple. Whenever the AI changes your document, the change is a tracked change, in any editing mode.

Formatting, styles and tables carry over to Microsoft Word, Google Docs and other word processors. Unaccepted tracked changes are accepted on export, so resolve the redlines you want to keep first.

Versions
Compare two versions side by side, or restore an earlier one. Restoring replaces the current content, so save a new version first.

The Drafting Assistant is AI legal drafting inside Irys One. It works two ways: the Drafting Assistant, a Word-like editor in your browser where every AI edit appears as a tracked change, and Workbench, where you ask in plain English and get a finished document back in the matter.
Does the Drafting Assistant change my document without showing me?
No. In the Drafting Assistant, every AI edit is rendered as a tracked change, whichever editing mode you are in. Deletions show in strikethrough and insertions are highlighted. You accept or reject each change, or use Accept All or Reject All.
Does the Drafting Assistant know the details of my case?
Inside a matter, yes. The Drafting Assistant inherits the matter's uploaded case files and exhibits, party names and roles, jurisdiction and case type, and prior research and notes. Outside a matter the AI still works, but without case-specific context.
Can I bring a Word document into the Drafting Assistant and take it back out?
Yes. Import a .docx file into the Drafting Assistant with its formatting, tables and styles intact. Export as DOCX or PDF when you finish. Tracked changes you have not accepted or rejected are accepted in the exported file, so resolve the ones you want to keep as redlines first.
How is the Drafting Assistant different from drafting in Workbench?
The Drafting Assistant is an editor: you work in the document and the AI proposes tracked changes. Workbench is an agent: you describe the task, and it plans the work, drafts real documents such as a Word file or a Google Doc, and brings them back to the matter.
