Capabilities in Workbench

Build a document template in Irys Workbench

Legal work is full of documents that follow the same structure and differ only in the details: engagement letters, NDAs, demand letters, separation agreements. A template is the single source of truth for one of those document types. Build it once, and every future use reflects it.

You build one by asking. Start from an agreement that already worked, attach it, and ask Workbench to turn everything that changes between deals into a field.

Creating a template

01

Attach the agreement

Click the paperclip and attach the document you want to reuse, or pick one already in your Library or in the Matter you are working in.

02

Ask for fields

Tell Workbench to replace every name, date, amount and deal term with a field, to keep the clause structure, and to list the fields afterwards. Say what you want back, a Word file.

A worked ask: "Turn this separation agreement into a reusable template. Replace every name, date, amount and deal term with a bracketed field, keep the clause structure, and give me the template as a Word file. Then list the fields and what goes in each."

03

Let it check its own work

The task list shows it convert the agreement, then verify the template and prepare a field guide. The checking step is part of the run, not something you ask for separately.

04

Read what comes back

Two files: the template, and a manifest explaining each field with an example value. The chat lists the fields by group, such as parties, dates, payment terms, reference, release and carve-outs. Preview the template to see each deal term replaced with a field and the clause numbering intact.

Keeping a template

On the template's file card, click Add to Matter. It joins the Library. Next time you need it, click the paperclip in any chat and search for it by name.

Templates in the Library are available to your organization. Keep firm-wide standards in the Org Library and personal drafts in your own work.

A file that stays in the chat is not in the Library. If you cannot find a template later, it is because Add to Matter was never used on its file card.
