Workspaces

A Workspace is the only access boundary in Irys One. Each Workspace contains a set of Matters and Members; members of the Workspace see all of its Matters.

What a Workspace contains

MattersEvery Matter belongs to exactly one Workspace.
MembersThe people with access. Membership equals access.
LibraryA workspace-scoped slice of the document library, alongside the user's Personal Library and the Org Library where one exists.
AI instructionsWorkspace-level prompt instructions that cascade into every Matter and chat in the Workspace.

The workspace switcher

The workspace switcher sits in the top-right header next to the search bar. The active Workspace name shows in the header; the dropdown lists every Workspace in the current organization that you're a member of, plus your Personal Workspace and (for admins) a control to create a new Workspace.

Selecting a different Workspace re-scopes the rest of the platform to that Workspace's content:

SurfaceRe-scopes to
MattersOnly Matters inside the selected Workspace
LibraryThe Workspace's documents, plus your Personal Library and the Org Library where applicable
Tasks pageTasks across all Matters in the selected Workspace
AI AssistantConversation context stays inside the selected Workspace

Why this matters

Privilege, conflicts, and confidentiality require a clean access model. Workspaces give your firm one — access is set once at the Workspace level, not managed per-document or per-chat, so each team's Matters are visible to the right people without permission rules to maintain.
