Skills

A skill is a file, in skill.md format, describing a repeatable procedure: a name, when to use it, and steps. Skills are reusable everywhere by default; they are not tied to one matter.

Skill details

Clicking a skill opens a detail view: the filename with its size and date, and a preview of the file contents. From here you can Edit skill, Download, or Remove from desk.

Running a skill

Run sits on the skill's card row and inserts a run instruction into the composer. It does not open the detail view.

Editing a skill

Edit skill makes the file editable in place, with Save changes and Cancel controls. Improve with Workbench opens a chat with the skill loaded, so you can revise it conversationally and save it back.

Adding a skill

+ New Skill offers two paths: drag and drop a .md or .zip file, or create one from a Workbench chat, either the current chat or a previous one. Either path shows a drafted skill preview to review before saving; Save stays inactive until a file is dropped or a draft exists.

The Skills Registry

The Skills Registry lives in Settings, under Settings > My Desk > Skills Registry, and is reached from the Skills tab's Browse the Skills Registry link. It lists skills in three groups: Yours (on your desk), Firm-published (shared by your firm), and Community (shared by other Irys firms). Filter pills cover All, Yours, Firm, and Community, alongside a search field. Install places the skill on your desk instantly, and the button flips to On your desk. The Registry also offers its own + New Skill action, which opens the same review-then-save flow as the panel.
